| Description | This bundle consists of three text made from the original recording. The themes are the following: 1) Marcelino discusses his work as a farmer. He describes how he arrives to his corn field, the type of corn he sows, how this is done and how he prepares the land, 2) in this text Marcelino describes how a traditional house is built using sticks and sugar cane leaves for the thatched roof. He describes how to make a stick house with a plastic laminate roof and he describes how to make an adobe house. He details how the adobe bricks are made and how to find the correct type of earth to make adobe and fired earthen bricks, 3) in the third text Marcelino details his work as a butcher describing the aspects of choosing the correct beef and how to prepare the "barbacoa" style beef enchilada in an earthen pit. Recorded with a Tascam HD-P2 solid state field recorder and Shure SM10A head-worn microphones in the patio of Marcelino's house. These texts were recorded with a Sony HDR-HC9 Mini DV HD Handy cam digital video recorder for linguistic analysis and to capture the gestures Marcelino uses as he describes these various processes. |
