Description | This collection consists of two recordings of words and phrases and one recorded narrative. Dr. Charles (Chuck) Cairns was as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin with a joint appointment in Linguistics and Speech at the time these recordings were made. He had a grant from the National Science Foundation that allowed him to make these recordings in order to get readings on supra-glottal air-pressure of the voiceless vowels in Southern Piute. The recordings were made in 1970 and 1971 in a sound lab operated by Dr. Peter MacNeilage at the University of Texas at Austin. Cairns left UT-Austin in 1971. |
