| Technical Description | This photograph was likely taken by Dina Sherzer, and shows Joel relaxing in the hammock on the porch of their rented apartment. According to Sherzer, it was likely that this photograph was taken in the afternoon because he remarked that his overall state of cleanliness implies that he had recently bathed. In a typical day for the Sherzers in Mulatuppu, they woke up around 6 am, ate a breakfast of bananas and/or oatmeal. They came home for lunch and ate a can of spaghetti or soup, and then perhaps another can of soup for dinner. The Sherzers reported that much of the food and water in Mulatuppu at the time was not safe to eat. |
